National Service Scheme
The National Service Scheme (NSS) is a Government-sponsored public service program conducted by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports of the Government of India. The club aims at developing student’s personality through community service and it is a voluntary association of young people in colleges, working for a campus-community linkage.
The National Service scheme of Thiruthangal Nadar College of arts and science has 2 units of National Service Scheme(N.S.S) with a strength of 200 students function in the college. It is under the control of two programme offiers, who are conducting the activities of the NSS as per the rules stipulated by the development of the personality of students through community service.
National Service Scheme is basically a field activity and is designed inter-alia, to provide students an opportunity to work by serving among the people about various schemes and programmes being implemented by the Government for rural development and to assist local authorities in the identification of beneficiaries. It is the application of education in finding practical solutions to individual and community problems.
Motto – NOT ME, BUT YOU
The motto reflects the essence of democratic living and upholds the need for selfless service. It underlines that the welfare of an individual is ultimately dependent on the welfare of the society on the whole.
